How to calculate a loan payment
Enter the amount, the term in months and the annual interest rate. The calculator shows the monthly payment, total interest and a full repayment schedule. The sliders make it easy to check “what if I borrow for a year less”: the result updates instantly.
Most consumer loans and car loans come with an annuity payment — the same amount every month. Differentiated payments are less common: they are higher at the start, but the total interest is lower.
Annuity payment formula
P = S × r / (1 − (1 + r)^(−n))
S — loan amount
r — monthly rate: annual / 12 / 100
n — term in months
Example. A loan of 500,000 ₽ for 3 years at 24% a year. Monthly rate 0.02, term 36 months. Payment: 500,000 × 0.02 / (1 − 1.02−36) ≈ 19,616 ₽. In total you will pay about 706,200 ₽, of which roughly 206,200 ₽ is interest.
Interest rate and the full cost of credit
In adverts banks quote the interest rate, but in the contract they must state the full cost of credit (PSK) as an annual percentage and in roubles. The PSK includes not only interest but also insurance, service fees and other mandatory payments. To compare offers from different banks fairly, compare the PSK: it is shown in the top right corner of the first page of the contract.
If insurance is included in the PSK and you decline it, the bank is entitled to raise the rate. Check this before signing.
Early repayment
By law you can repay a consumer loan early at any time by notifying the bank in advance (usually 30 days, unless the contract gives a shorter period). With a partial early repayment, the bank will offer to reduce either the payment or the term. Reducing the term saves more interest; reducing the payment eases the pressure on your budget.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between annuity and differentiated payments?
An annuity payment stays the same for the whole term, but at the start more of it is interest. A differentiated payment starts higher and gradually decreases, and the total interest is lower.
Why is the bank’s payment different from the calculation?
The bank may include insurance in the payment, count the days in a month differently (the actual number of days instead of 1/12 of a year) or round amounts. The difference is usually a few roubles or a few dozen roubles.
Can I calculate a car loan?
Yes. A car loan uses the same formula. Enter the loan amount minus the down payment, the term and the rate from the bank’s offer.
With early repayment, is it better to reduce the term or the payment?
Reducing the term saves more money on interest. Reducing the payment is better if you need to ease your monthly budget or lower your debt burden for a new application.
