Frequently asked questions
Who is this glossary for?
For anyone who comes across unfamiliar words in a contract, a payslip, a bill or a letter from the tax office. There is a separate section for those who have moved to Russia: work patent, temporary residence permit (RVP), residence permit (VNZh), pension insurance number (SNILS), migration registration.
Why is there a Russian word next to the translation?
In documents, at the bank and on Gosuslugi (the state services portal) you will see the Russian name. That is why we write it next to the translation, in Latin letters and with a hint on how it sounds.
How often are the figures updated?
Rates, amounts and deadlines are checked together with the site's calculators. Current values for the year are collected in the key figures reference.
Can I rely on the glossary in a dispute with a bank or employer?
The glossary explains concepts in plain words and is for reference only. For a dispute you need the text of the law or contract — terms include links to official sources.
