In Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus

Russia

Day is usually from 7:00 to 23:00 and night from 23:00 to 7:00; the night rate is, as a rule, 2–3 times lower than the day rate. It pays off if you use a lot of electricity in the evening and at night (washing machine, water heater, electric heating). You can switch by applying to your electricity supplier (энергосбыт); modern «smart» meters often just need reprogramming.

Kazakhstan

In Kazakhstan, households have tariffs that differ by time of day — a multi-rate meter is needed for them.

Belarus

In Belarus, people with a multi-rate meter pay tariffs that differ by time of day; electricity is noticeably cheaper at night.
