The insurance pension formula
The old-age insurance pension is calculated in pension points — individual pension coefficients (IPK). They are awarded for every year in which insurance contributions were paid for you (Federal Law No. 400-FZ).
Example. By retirement you have 120 points: 120 × 156.76 + 9,584.69 = 28,395.89 ₽ a month.
Points per year depend on your salary: the maximum is 10 points with income at the contribution ceiling (2,979,000 ₽ in 2026). The calculator assumes your future salary will grow in line with this ceiling and shows the pension in today’s prices.
Conditions for an insurance pension
- Insurance record of at least 15 years.
- At least 30 pension points.
- Retirement age: 65 for men and 60 for women born in 1963 and 1968 respectively or later. For earlier years of birth there is a transition period.
If the conditions are not met, a social pension is granted 5 years after retirement age.
How to increase your pension
For each year you delay claiming your pension, the points and the fixed payment are increased by bonus coefficients. Points are also awarded for periods of caring for children up to one and a half years old, military service and caring for elderly relatives. Since 2025 you can receive a payment in the form of points for co-financing under the long-term savings programme.
This is a simplified calculation and does not include indexation, supplements, regional coefficients, early pensions or the funded component. For an exact figure, see your personal account of the Social Fund of Russia (SFR) on Gosuslugi, the government services portal.
