Regional coefficient and northern supplement: what it is
Extra pay for working in regions with a harsh climate: the coefficient multiplies your pay (for example, by 1.5), and the northern supplement grows with the time you have worked in those regions.

The regional coefficient is usually between 1.15 and 2 (Art. 146, 148 and 316 of the Labour Code), and the northern supplement is up to 50–100% and builds up gradually, faster for young people under 30. Both are paid on top of the minimum wage (МРОТ) and are subject to personal income tax (НДФЛ); the minimum sick pay and maternity pay also depend on the coefficient.
