Debt burden ratio (PDN): what it is

The share of your income that goes to payments on all loans and borrowings. For example, if you pay 30,000 ₽ a month with an income of 100,000 ₽, your PDN is 30%.

In Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus

Russia

Banks and microfinance organisations must calculate the PDN (ПДН) before lending (as a rule, from 10,000 ₽) and warn the borrower if it is above 50%. The Bank of Russia limits the share of loans to people with a high PDN, so with a burden above 50% approval is harder to get. Credit card limits are also included in the calculation.

Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan has a similar indicator, the debt burden coefficient (КДН, KDN): a bank must not issue a loan if payments would take more than 50% of the borrower's income.
