When to apply
Under the Admission Procedure (Order No. 458 of the Ministry of Education, Minprosveshcheniya), applications for first grade are accepted in two stages:
- from 1 April to 30 June — for children living in the catchment area assigned to the school, and for children with an extraordinary, priority or preferential right of admission;
- from 6 July to 5 September — for all other children, for any remaining places.
The easiest way to apply is on Gosuslugi, the government services portal: the submission time is recorded automatically. Paper applications are accepted at the school in person or by post.
Documents you need
- the parent's passport;
- the child's birth certificate;
- a document confirming the child's permanent or temporary registration in the catchment area;
- for priority rights — a supporting document;
- if necessary — a report from the psychological, medical and educational commission.
The child's age
First grade admits children who are at least 6 years 6 months old on 1 September, but not older than 8, if there are no health contraindications. Earlier or later admission requires permission from the school's founder — usually the local education authority (Art. 67 of Federal Law No. 273-FZ).
